I will make no bones about it , I don't like what I see of the Mandela family . He is/was a terrorist now held as a hero . A contradiction our press conveniently ignores . His wife is suspected of kidnap and murder of a minor . His daughter suggestested on tv that press gatherings around the hospital had racial overtones ? How does that work ? Bigot....   Nope , a bad bunch who managed to pull off a change for the better for Africa , yeah but dont ask me to like them.....
   Ian Brady . Scum , but intelligent interesting scum !!!  Again a contradiction of unimaginable ambiguity . He realises his image is greater than his crimes after 50 years . He realises its the damn moors that are associated with his crimes and its the moors that mean people never will forget his crimes . Its all about the image . Moors...Wuthering Heights ...Hound of the Baskervilles ect . Get it ??? This is what he said himself during his much publised hearing at court recently . Insane ? Maybe ! Correct ? YES !!!

Would you believe it ?

Our coalition government has spent more than Labour on welfare this year . 30 billion pounds more in fact . Gordon Brown used welfare spending to buy the publics votes with financial pay outs  such as tax credits . The Conservatives are no different it would seem despite all their shouting about " making work pay " When all is said and done obtaining votes is all that matters in a democracy . No wonder nothing gets sorted when unpopular measures are needed . Turkeys don't vote for Christmas......

Nothing exciting today

A rather dull dreary cool morning in Dent . A stiff  cool wind is blowing up  the dale turning over the new green leaves  . Warmer weather is on the way  next week so today is a prelude of work to come next week... Feeling tired so am not trailing anywhere today . Gonna continue the mega clean of my car while i have both the enthusiasm and the time . Make hay while the sun shine i think .

The Blackbird nesting in the bush outside our living room window in March is now rearing another brood it appears in the same nest . Whats got me thinking is do I know anyone else who is planning a second brood at the moment . I have my suspicions....

The new $5000 ?

$ 7000 is the new $5000 thanks to mega inflation they deny when conjuring up our inflation percentage using crooked methods , but if you need some reasonable bit of kit for your business this will be the price of it ! Something really useful was $5000 but not anymore....hello 7K !!!

Doc Martin

Though I have never watched Doc Martin on ITV  I always enjoy watching the filming of the show in Port Issac . Filming takes place in the street surrounded by holiday makers . How the director keeps his patience as the general publics cars are given right of way through the set i have no idea ! I guess filming in a real Cornish village  will give the show a more realistic look than an artificial studio set . The light will be good for starters..... I found it fascinating watching the cast , crew and public all in one crowd and tried to spot where one group started or stopped . They all had clear different body language and appearance . It was quite easy to spot the fictional tv characters by their dress !
  Last year I commented on how the crowd scenes looked odd from a distance and a little to perfect compared to real life . This year I noticed the actors were dressed slightly out of date for today's fashions even though the show is set today . Why ?  This is done on purpose . This is how we expect fictional people to dress . Maybe we are more comfortable with a delay in appearances built into our TV dramas . Some older characters were dressed in the stereo type image of say a fisherman in an old jumper which I understand but the young women I am more baffled at being dressed out of date by a few years . Am i missing something . Its all about how the series fulfilling  our perceptions of the appearance of the characters . I bet no one else has noticed this . Why have i noticed this ? Why does it matter ?

I suppose if you have more money going out than coming in then a drastic measure like gambling may throw you a financial life line if you are lucky or maybe skilled at betting . I suppose someone must win more than they loose but I bet you could count those people them on one hand.....
