Are We Really What We Eat ?

Are you getting your 5 a day ? Well if you are one of the minority that already eat 5 or more portions of fruit or vegetables a day already ( as recommended by our health experts ) then bad luck to you because today your daily target has just been raised to 7 a day , by lunch time it was 10 a day according to some health academics .

 As Ive said before this is the typical behaviour of a pressure or lifestyle focus group . Basically they set a target for you that's nearly unachievable and then after a while they will raise it higher again , thus justifying their own existence by re-creating the problem . After all what's the point to a pressure group if people actually act on what they say ? Well the problem ceases and they are become redundant , but don't worry because there is even more that always needs doing funnily enough . Well that is a surprise , back to square one we go then...

   Of course the real truth about food is that the human body can survive on just about any food ; even a diet of bad processed convenience  food or take aways . No the effects wont be pretty and the real damage will take decades , but the human body can and does exist quite nicely on this high fat or sugar laced rubbish .
  Look at the varied diets of the worlds population ; Mediterranean- fish , fruit ect , Asian - rice , beans , Eskimos - fat , blubber , meat , meat , meat , fish ect  . There are some very extreme diets around the globe and the human body can do them all  quite nicely .

   Vegetarian or Vegan ? No problem really . There may be side affects as with all non varied diets around the world , but basically the human body adapts . So why our obsession with more fruit and veg ? One academic from The Royal College of London said no less " However much fruit and veg you are eating now , eat more !!! "  She is forgetting we can survive on nearly anything ... and most people  do !  Its time to just leave people alone and treat them like adults , after all we are not morons ! We eat what we can afford , when we can or what we have time to cook . That's the real world for you...

Looking back at the date, I think the 7-10 a day was an April Fool joke in the media (maybe) but what I wrote is still true...
