Suits you, sir ?

Here is a photo of me wearing an odd random hat I found in Asda for a joke. Then I realised that I once wrote how I would like to see top hats for men make a return. Imagine the fun ? If this was the case I would have to insist women returned to wearing corsets. In fact it wouldnt surprise me in the least if that happened in the next 12 months as history repeats itself. I cant see top hats for everyday wear being that practical though, especially in high winter winds. How did they keep them on in those days ?

Aspiration

What does modern man aspire to in 2021 ?

Why a small yappy dog, a beard and a mini van.

How times change.

I took this photo yesterday. Its a huge fungus that's  the shape and size of a football.

Anyone in USA will probably expand on this but from watching the UK news it seems to be true...

It was back in 2011 when I first started my blogs and I guess it was all about releasing a pent up stress. Yes, I followed my heart back then and this triggered a seismic change for my life. Those days were crazy and full of passion which eventually spawned The Golden Blog. Blogging definitely kept me " sane " or rather channelled a little energy into a alternative situation. If I had posted the above picture to my other blog then I would be waxing lyrical about all sorts, but this post is more about the down to earth aspects of blogging.

Reading anothers blog definitely got me through a rough time. The Sleep of Reason was a daily grounding for me. It was a space to admit that some people are different and are not all people are " pedestrian ". It was a breath of fresh air when I needed it.

Its the eternal mystery. Why do so few people comment ? Another mystery is Blogger stats. How can a post get several hundred views and no one or only one  person comments ? I dont believe that many people have read it. I get weird rhythmical spikes of page views sometimes of 50 every 2 days. I dont know. These big figures seem to occur on my other blog though and this ones existence is running on nostalgia for past times. Do you ever look back at all your old posts ? Every now and again I smile as I read my old writing and Im taken right back to those crazy days. Did I do some ranting on here or what ? lol

Drone footage of queues at a petrol station as motorists told not to pan...

Britain is grinding to a halt. Lack of delivery drivers and tightened immigration rules after Brexit are now taking there toll on every industry from building to cafes. Funnily it hasnt affected illegal immigration which is now seeing record numbers of up to 900 people a day crossing the channel to the UK from France. I would normally say that panic buying is dumb, but when there simply isnt enough fuel being delivered then what else are people to do ?

This country is crumbling and every damn stupid policy decision that ive ranted about is now coming to fruition. All the stupidity, all the knee jerk dumb lazy attitudes are finally manifesting in the economy and its not pretty. I have a feeling its going to be chaotic winter. But people are already scared of winter. I think they associate winter with lock down and life been put acceptably on hold. I think they want to mentally give up during winter and live life to the full in summer. A kind of seasonal disorder which I can relate to ...and maybe Im projecting here ?

One good thing about living in the countryside is that the low population means the petrol at small stations lasts longer, however in a large
town deliveries are daily so any increase in demand by say panic buying very quickly creates a problem. Seeing lots of "out of order " signs on pumps is worrying, but this problem is just the tip of the iceberg. I remember the ridiculous situation last year when we were told that no one could visit your house on Christmas day after being told a week before it would be OK. We live in an age when anything at all can be cancelled out of existence at any moment. Thats modern Britain.

Get Away! (the Little Pest Remix)

Today didnt go to plan. While trying to get some lambs out of a hedge that ran along a riverside I somehow disturbed a nest wasps. I ended up being stung 4 times on the face and once on each hand while trying to run along a river bed and back to the quad bike id left 400 meters away. Even once i'd raced away they were still all over my beanie type hat which must have saved me from several potentially painful head stings. Wasps seem to be thriving in this dry weather. It is in fact so dry you can pick up rotten wood from the ground and light a fire as in those American style survival tv shows. Grass has died under the hedge rows to. Ive never seen it so dry in September and there is no sign of rain yet. Maybe I just should have stood still ?

6 million ways to die - choose one ?

I came across this today on a Pubs premises. At first I thought it must be a joke, but no. Speechless.

Yes, No..Yes !

As we only have a 3 month Summer here in the UK then I have mixed feelings about the above attitude but when the moment for a change of season comes Im all ready to embrace it. My work is dominated by this so I must embrace it, hence maybe Im constantly planning ahead and never really savouring the moment ? The darker nights have a charm I guess and that excites a part of me, for while anyway.

04 - Gigi D'Agostino - Souvenir (by DJ VF)

The latest CD ive bought. I remember buying Techno fes 1 twelve years ago and a pounding heady unusual mix it was to. Im pleased to say that this 2nd Techno fes CD is just as good with its stonking bass and odd and sometimes sophisticated sounding vocals. Gigi da'gostino's music really moves me. How much it moves me maybe a subject for my other blog. Im at a stage once again where I sit still and listen to music on a proper hifi shaking the old oak floor boards much to the annoyance of others.

I need rehabilitation ?

Its the most stunning sunny Sunday September afternoon but Im too angry and frustrated to go anywhere. I have just tried to complete a Speed Awareness course via Zoom or rather more accurately " The National Driving Offenders Rehabilitation Course " because after all driving at 72 mph in a 60 zone is such a heinous crime. Now I knew me in a Zoom meeting would be fraught with problems as this is well out side my comfort zone. But when I was thrown out after 60 seconds and asked to leave even I was shell shocked.

What was the reason then ? Loosing my temper ? Lack of technical skill on the call..lol  No ! My wife popped her head around the door of the room I was in just to see if I had logged on to the course without any hiccups and this I was immediately and curtly informed was a and I quote " A breach of confidentiality " and that was enough to see me fail, just that alone.

This just fulfilled my suspicion that the course was bullshit even though the goal of completing would have seen me avoiding the the three penalty points. So now I have the £80 I paid for the course and another £45 for failing the course and £100 for now receiving the penalty points.

I knew things wouldn't go well when I saw the woman conducting the Zoom meeting. She had the look of a battle axe. Off course its just more modern bullshit. I have less and less respect for much stuff nowadays. You are criminalised and then given the chance to redeem yourself only to have the goal posts moved. It doesn't help if you work or have money though as people with true crime records or drug convictions always get the slack we decent people deserve. Its all about the money. If you are going to incur costs in prosecution that you cannot pay then a  "course  " is offered to you and I bet no one is thrown off that for their wife putting her head around a door way. If you have money the its Fuck You ! Break bail conditions, commit assault or theft, no problem. Ive seen it happen....
