As many teenagers are waiting for their exam results a certain teacher is making headlines in the newspapers by suggesting that... exams are only one way of measuring intelligence and in no way do they reflect whether the person is trustworthy, reliable or an asset in the work place. Neither will an exam tell you what a persons characteristics are that make them useful or a pleasure to have around . She also goes on to say that in 5 years time all the " who ha " of these exams will be forgotten in the takers lives as work/family will be the new future priority...I find this view remarkably refreshing, especially from a teacher, though I am surprised she hasn't been shouted down in our education obsessed society. Education is good , but not the be all and end all as its been ramped up to be. Now that's when it all gets a bit silly...
