Death Wish Woman

Hi, Welcome to a particularly modern situation; Death Wish Woman. She does as she wants, she acts how ever she wants, and takes no notice of whats going on in her immediate vicinity, as she blindly expects her surroundings to yield to her petty mind set bubble She has no noticeable awareness of the concept of  self preservation at all, and hence I suggest she is insane or unbalanced. Cut her some slack, she's gonna need it...

Here's another one....

Ellen Svensson

Here is one freshly off the production line. A product of the facebook generation. As a child she had access to the internet and chat rooms. She learnt what she thinks will add kudos to her image. Its brutally simple. Fuck me please !!!  A monster has emerged. Of course all attention she no doubt receives will be deemed as unwanted, and worryingly freaky. That's a given.

Who's Killing TV Films ?

We live in an age when people care more about what medium they are watching a film on than what film they are watching. In fact the sound on modern TV's is so bad that I can I can only assume that no one listens to film dialogue any more, and judging by what ive seen in family environments, id say that is accurate. People just cant stop talking over the TV. Its the only time they are gathered all together socially, and they take full advantage by engaging in conversation with others while they have the chance to see them eye to eye.

One oversized mug of tea that needs re-heating half way through drinking is never as enjoyable as drinking two consecutive normal sized mugs.

Something Outta Nothing ? !

If plastic Supermarket bags are now being charged at 5p, the used ones have suddenly got a value as well, right? Maybe even billions of pounds nationwide ? A value has been created out of nothing. Now how do I you get rich of this ?  Dont laugh. Carbon credits change  hands for millions !!! Maybe I think too much, but there must be an opportunity here. The financial model is there, but wheres the moral mindset to be exploited ? Well someone else is already making a packet ( sorry ) out of this bag tax.

Ireland : Do we want the Euro  ?  Oh, yes, yes, yes !!!

 Europe : There you go....  :  )

Sleeping in my childhood bedroom tonight. This room is a historical mental bolt hole. I may one day die in this room. The sudden sound of my daughters voice upon awaking in my Sisters  old room next door, has just given me unexpected jolt. Old ghosts meet the new.

The Golden Barge / The Alchemist

The Golden BargeI have tonight started to read a short novel by Paulo Coelho, its called intriguingly  The Alchemist. Its a simply written book, and not a long one either. The story concerns the journey of a young boy in his quest for hidden treasure. It is obviously a metaphor for the authors torrid real life attempts at learning the secrets of Alchemy, and all the variously dubious characters that he openly admits to having been exploited by, details of which are briefly listed in the Preface section.
Im writing this post tonight as the style of this novel reminds me very much of a book I first read a few years ago, and one that made a big impression on me; The Golden Barge by Micheal Moorcock. This story is also a short one, and its also about a young man who travels and devotes his life to following a mysterious barge along a river. Its a parable about following dreams and the outcomes of this. These two books are uncannily the same, but Im yet to see if their conclusions are the same. Time will tell. I recommend both books. They are both simple and short, but don't underestimate their messages.

I Hate To Mention Football But...

Image result for fifa imagesMany are today wrangling over Seb Blatter retaining his leadership over the seemingly corrupt football world governing authority ;  FIFA

FIFA has the most excellent example of true democracy ive come across - ONE COUNTRY - ONE VOTE !   This means a small country in Africa has the same voting power as America or the U.K - Just one vote each. I still cant believe this. There is a problem though as African countries run on corruption, and it only takes a few to be nobbled to outweigh the traditional Western countries which hold the most historically dedicated football fans. Maybe true democracy is dangerous then ?

" Mans invention of the gun, not only changed his relationships with all other other men, but with all other animals too... "

Whats Happened To F- ing Radio 4 ?

Well, ive finally become " ...disgusted of Tunbridge Wells... "  Yes, this week ive been quite offended by Radio 4 . Twice ive heard the F - word used in one day alone. O.K, this word was used in an artistic sense as it it was part of a songs lyrics, but I don't expect to hear this word on Radio 4 ! The second time this expletive was used was during a very alternative comedy show. Again not what I expect from this station, or the BBC
My own language is not the best, but that's not the point. Radio 4 is seen as the last bastion of high standards. That's my problem here. I don't know what is going on at the moment but it appears Radio 4 has split into two different mind sets that's are in complete denial of each other. I guess they think that never the twain shall meet... On one hand we have the traditional news based shows, and then there are ever more increasingly alternative comedy sketch shows. These are getting really alternative now, and as they are on air late at night are impossible to follow and just come across a racket.
I cant believe how I sound typing this post. Times must really be moving on if Im saying these things about a very conservative radio station. Two halves of this station are going to collide soon. Listeners will not tolerate both these two styles. Whats the answer then ? Well I hold aloft the BBC World Service as a broadcasting model. Its globally based, fascinating and illuminating. Its a breath of fresh air. Oh, and I love their edgy world music jingles !

I Just Want To Relax

Its getting worse, much worse. Many of the TV shows I watch are being overwhelmed by emotional back stories. For example a classic car restoration program I watch seems to find only cars to restore whose owners have, or are recovering from a serious disease, or even better who have recently suffered bereavement. If the car owner died leaving said car to their other half then this is presented with tears and all. Im getting sick of all the tears. Emotional stories have their place, but inserting them into car shows is not the time or the place. Im trying to relax. Save these stories for day time TV please...

Now the Chelsea Flower Show Garden Award has been won by a man whose garden was of an African design...yes you've guessed it, inspired by a charity. Again an emotional back story has swamped the public who have voted for this winner. Just watch out where this trend is going. Its going to ruin TV !
Its cold at the moment, and Spring is late. The leaves arent even out properly yet, and the air is cold. The odd burst of sunshine appears, but so do the hail showers ! Normally we would be turning our cows out around now, but there is no grass yet at all. Just as well we have extra feed in store for them.
Im weary and ready for my coming holiday this weekend. Im not as weary as some years, but when youve been feeding animals everyday since the middle of October you are ready for them to go outdoors. The cows are getting irritable with each other too. They spend all the time they can standing in the sun, not realising there is no grass yet outside. This will change quickly when the weather softens.
Ive been using the two young sheep dogs ive been training today, and ive got a real sense of satisfaction watching them rounding the sheep up and keeping them together. They have yet to remember the fields they are in and what direction Im aiming for but basically they seem to be eager to learn and obedient. This is good. They are nearly a year old, and make the other sheep dogs look old ! A fully trained sheep dog cost two thousand pounds. The stage these two are at is the one thousand five hundred value I would say, so my time has been well spending the extra effort to get them trained despite it being a busy time of year.

Ive Reached That Moment

It happened last night. The moment It became clear that the world was truly insane. I was watching a news report about the upcoming Gay Marriage Referendum in Ireland. Funny how they get an official referendum and we just got a " debate ". Seeing people pushing the point that two people of the same sex should be able to raise children makes me sick, but thats not what flipped me. The moment occured when a Gay activist  appeared masked, not in a balaclava, but in a plastic carrier bag with holes cut out for his eyes and mouth. He also sported a big bright red hat. What a sight. It was at this moment I shook my head and went to bed.
Of course appearing masked added to the image of him being under threat. A silly trick in a country that has seen the IRA in balaclavas. I doubt his life was under threat. The news reporter said that the YES vote may win as people opposed to the bill maybe shamed into staying at home, as they are deemed negative, and not progressive. If these people cannot be counted on turn out to say NO, then we have reached a sad state.

Carney: UK productivity not harmed by foreign workers

I guess alls happy in the garden then ?

Is this an automated narrator ?!     Zzzzzzzzzzzzz.......

Foreign workers drag down UK wages, says Mark Carney

I find it most worrying that this news story was only released AFTER the election, and there has been NO mention of it on the TV news, only radio and online coverage has happened. This is  blatantly a conspiracy. The very fact this man has had to narrate this story himself ,proves that some people still have their eyes open. 1 in 6 UK workers weren't born here. Just how was this shocking story buried ? And I thought The Bank of England was now politically neutral ? Fat chance. On a lighter note though, Mark Carney would make a good 007 don't you think ? And I do like his smooth accent...

Capitalism is DEAD !

We in Britain pride ourselves on being a modern Capitalist society. We have jobs, we work and invest our money in property and the likes. We borrow to push our lives forward, and hopefully make ourselves self sufficient by then owning the homes we live in. This is an ideal after all. This work and earn, then invest mantra is the very soul of our Western outlook. The truth however is that this country of ours, and our personal finances ect are steeped in Socialist ideals. Right wing people neednt mock " old fashioned Socialism " running amock. In fact we live by their ideals of economic and social tinkering. Aggressive free market economy ? You've got to be kidding me ?

The biggest argument for Capitalism is that it works and is self regulating. Its the healthy strong free market. Things find their own level - supply and demand. We live by our own efforts. Why its the only way to go. The system delivers after all. Period. So is that why we still have a 76 billion deficit to borrow every year ? That's the short fall that must be borrowed each year to keep our country running to the standard we require. Our taxes cant produce this money. The free market economy cant. No, we must borrow to prop up our comfortable society and keep it running to the standard we all require and expect  -  SOCIALIST  THINKING !!

At least our careers and private lives are free from that old subsidised Socialism, right ?  We work. Were not benefit scroungers bleeding the country dry after all are we ? We pull our weight, or do we ? Even the holy grail of the work and wages have been subsidised in a 1970's manner. Many of us claim Tax Credits from our government  to top up our earnings when they dip. Lets just think about that. Large monthly amounts of money that are paid into our bank accounts to boost our wages !! Even the Capitalist holy grail of work and wages need subsidising  - SOCIALIST THINKING

Ah, our houses. Mortgages paid by our wages. An investment in the Capitalist system that will deliver for us all. Watch and weep Socialist dinosaurs !!  Well even this bastion of the free market has been subsidised. As prices have risen too high due to the free market ( stop laughing ) the government ( yeah, again... ) is now lending first time  house buys their deposit. This deposit was a cash one once. The thinking being it was a way financially proving you were reliable. An essential Capitalist measuring tool. The free market self regulating. Now the housing market has risen even more due to this lending. Free housing market ? Rubbish, yet more - SOCIALIST THINKING

Finally lets look at Banking the City. Surely the pinnacle of Capitalism and the free world. The biggest financial engine that symbolises all the West stands for. A rampart free market that makes billions. Capitalism personified right ? Er, they would have laughed you out of the room if in the 1980's if you told them eventually this system would need bailing out to prevent collapse. Yes, subsidising the very bed rock of Capitalism and the free market because the figures just don't add up well enough, and its incompetent, corrupt ect,,, More than anything else this is the most shocking example of " banana republic thinking "  TRULY A  TRIUMPH OF SOCIALIST THINKING  !

And Temperatures In Some Parts Could Reach...

Image result for ian mccaskill imagesJust how did it happen ?  We now have an emotional investment in the weather. You think I'm joking ? Well worse still we have an emotional investment in our weather forecasters too, and they are all to quick to rise to the challenge...Once our weather forecasters were middle aged and male. They solemnly forecast the coming weather and only occasionally mentioned high temperatures being noticeable. There was no adding a few degrees on in the Spring time, no silly whimsically looking ahead to Summer during Winter months forecasts. The weather was a mundane subject. It was not sexy. I present to you Ian Mcaskill  !

Today we have the weather  " girl ". Top quality ? Good ass and trim figure, and the ability at anytime to whore herself out to produce ever increasing temperature projections, particularly on Weekends and Bank Holidays. Being a not very sunny country we lap it up every time, and ask no questions. I mean why would we ?
The honest truth is we equate the Sun with being content, and picture its presence as a goal or an ideal. Foreign holidays have not helped this concept at all, as again the Sun is aligned with not working and leisure. If the sun is shining then all is deemed as well. Our forecasters just cant help themselves when getting in on the act. They are all to obliging in prostituting their forecasts for our coming weather, and for that reason they have lost any respect I once had for them. See, there is even a film made about it...

Three - The Pony #DancePonyDance

We are all one trick ponies on line...just why we all reduce our selves to caricatures I don't know. We all resort to type when we don't have to speak to people face to face. I dont know if this is good or bad ?

Tanith Lee - NIGHTSHADES

" He took her pulse; her flesh was cold. She seemed entirely too relaxed, relaxed to an extraordinary degree, as if drugged. Peering into her eyes, he was reminded of an Oriental belief that women have no souls. Discouraged by this idea, which sprang from racial memories he at times attempted to suppress in himself, the doctor packed up his bag and perched beside her, with his prescription pad..."

Equality Is Not A Natural State !

'Don't be fooled by the temporary...be one with everything..'

Equality is a particularly modern idea. Of course its unachievable, and a totally un-natural state. All life that I see competes to further its own ends. Some win / some lose. Its brutal. Unfortunately this is the way of the world. Further more this is why I distrust many pressure groups. They constantly change the goal posts, as you give ground and adapt your thoughts or behaviours for them. They don't want equality-they want dominance ! Can none else see this ?

No, bit I wish it was...

Surely this must be automotive perfection  ?

Did I mention it has a broken engine, no ?    You've gotta love cars...

There Are No Wrong Answers

Its true that we must have a level playing field when it comes to rating different peoples beliefs. Why should an African in a jungle be any the less worthy of respect than someone who is Church of England. We dont understand how other primitive religions work. In fact we understand nothing at all about them, or the environments in which they thrive. To class them as just hocus  pocus is the height of arrogance, surely ?

Donnie Darko Fear/Love Classroom Scene

Im hanging around at the moment on a facebook themed page that contains more than a few new age types. These people often equate much of what we do or say ( if they dont like it ) to fear. This reminded me of a clip from one of my favourite films, that points out the glaringly obvious over simplification of such ideas.  If only life were so simple...

Two Paces From Death

This week Im lucky to be alive, to be quite frank. A large oak branch fell without warning as I worked under a tree. The branch had broken, but was still attached to the tree trunk, so the other end hung near the ground. Normally branches like this are very strong, but as I trimmed it I heard a huge crash behind me as it fell without warning. Had I been two paces to the left there is a very good chance I wouldnt be here to write this blog today. You never see it coming.... People say chainsaws are dangerous, but I think what youre cutting is a bigger danger. Trees under pressure are unpredictable. Life is fragile.

A Game Of Chance

Is knowledge always an asset ?  Well not always as my cousin found out out when he made a bet with a seasoned football fan. Such was this mans obsession with putting his money where his beliefs were, he took on a small wager regarding an up and coming football match with my relation, who knew or cared nothing for the sport. My cousin was totally ignorant of any football knowledge at all. Period.  In fact he only entered into the wager to shut the football fan up.  Of course my cousin  won the bet, much to the disgust of the obsessive fan. When it comes to situations of chance or random outcomes, then knowledge can be a poor indicator of the situations conclusion. A person of vast knowledge has nothing over another in the game of chance, and what is life if not a game of chance ? Chance makes a mockery of us all. Life is just a roll of the dice in the end. All the knowledge in the world cant guarantee success. It may help, but rely on it at your peril...

In Heaven (Eraserhead; David Lynch; 1977)

I

I first watched David Lynch's surreal film Eraser Head as a teenager. Its an odd, very dark film set in a nightmarish and overly industrial landscape ( comically so )  The films general subject is about becoming a father, and the terrible re-balancing a man suddenly has to do in how he views and relates to others around him. Well thats my take on the film today. You see after becoming a father, I now see a whole new film before me, twice as weird, and twice as disturbing and twice as revealing. Its funny how your perception of a film can change over time...

The Essence of 23 - Get Out !

Its a wonderful thought that a journey of terrible change eventually leads to a full circle as we return to where we set off from, but as weve changed this cannot be the same point we originally started out from - its an enhanced place now, enhanced by the journey weve just completed. Beautiful !!!  A true progression indeed. This has lifted my spirits !

As Essential As Sex

I dont care how old a man is, whether he has a family or not, or whether he has a fast car or not. I do however know that it is essential for the nourishment of a mans soul, to once in a while put his foot down and race a fellow road user for a crazy few minutes. Childish ? Dangerous even ? I remember a time when people could weigh up sensibly the risks of their actions and have a little fun accordingly. Today I did just that. Even if it was a silly 60 seconds of trying to regain my lost youth, then I feel the brief exercise has been worthwhile. Two men had a smile put on their faces for a few minutes this afternoon, and I think thats a rarity nowadays. Job done !

A Spoonful Of Sugar....

'positive negativity'

This is not as crude, or as stupid as it sounds. There must be a point where its healthy to let go of whatever were struggling with. I would never suggest giving up as that's lazy, but maybe there are times when we need to  move on to tackling the next task in hand. Getting stuck in a rut and obsessing about achieving a goal can lead to serious damage. I admit its one of my weak points, or maybe its a strong point ? I guess there is a fine line between the two, and I don't know anyone who can judge at exactly what point it is that their perseverance starts to cost them a little more than that which is healthy.

It Has Always Been This Way

Spring will soon be upon us, and on the first sunny warm weekend there will be the unveiling of a Winters work and creative input. Cars that have been built over the dark months will suddenly be roaring down the main street in various modified guises. An explosion of sound and colour and more than a hint of melancholy will arise in me as I watch them race past.

Secondly, and more controversially, girls who are reaching a certain age and are suddenly fully aware of it, will be taking trial runs of near nakedness in the earliest Spring sunshine. What has been distilling over the dark wet Winter months will be outed. A grand unveiling if you will. Things will never be the same again for them...or for their alarmed parents either I guess. The cycle continues. Is this not the true essence of Easter ? Pagan wise that is. And on this odd note I shall end.

Grey Windy March Day...

Its a grey windy, dry, gloomy March evening. The roads are dry and grey, the land is a dirty brown  mixed with a hint of a green colour. The wind is in the North, but its no so cold. Ive seen this scene so many times, and its making me weary. Its the first sign of Spring, and the time thats known as The Ides of March.. Wars are planned, people start thinking about moving house or changing their lives in some way. A dangerous time to spend too long in anyones company, as its highly likely you will hear something said you dont want to hear oddly. Im exhausted but have had a few hours sleep this afternoon despite my wifes friend landing round with her little girl. I had just got in the bath as well...In some ways I feel ive re-charged my batteries a little today, but for a long while ive felt like ive been alive for a long, long while. I have little enthusiasm for much more of this plod. Not that ive a bad lot in life, just that its been such a long drawn out affair. Im tired of time, whatever that means.

Today is as grey as my profile photo.

Orbs

Its a full moon and everything is annoying me at the moment... I have recently joined a online group who post pictures of Orbs they have captured. Of course as with any group there are gullible people, fakers and some genuinely impressive people to, some of which actually have a sense of humour. But boy are there a few touchy ones ( yeah, the female ones with fake profile pictures, so, so pretty ).So whats my gripe today ?
Well, its people who place an outline of whatever they want to see over a blurry photograph. Its a stupid and a lax way to try and convince others that you understand what youre seeing. Of course all photographs of such things are open to all interpretations, so leave them that way. If you need to add a template to enhance the idea your pushing, then may I suggest that what your " pointing out " is not visable, or maybe just in your head. I mean any fool can do that. Where does it end ?
There also seems to be a default view that all such things are cuddly and positive. Challenge this view and things become a little tense. Again what proof do you have that these Orbs are benign ? A little caution must be healthy. If whats within looks a bit disturbing, then at least admit so and dont sugar coat over this. 99% of people do this and its hacking me off. Oh, that and blogger...

Of course, such a likeness there....

Rock Around The Block Tonight

Thats done it. Ive finally blocked a person I know on facebook who has been actively trying to annoy me for months. He posts various photographs of where I live as his page header, his status updates, are frankly not what he thinks at all, or are just plain bullshit ( and he knows it ) he posts profile photo's imitating someone in my family, and befriends people just to annoy me, the list goes on...Its people like this that make me limit who I add to my friends list. How can that be right ?  Worst of all this will probably not stop this computer savvy individual, but Im dont care at the moment as I feel a bit better already !
