Today I was speaking to a Rep who visited our farm and I told  him how the everyday simple things had become a battle, and he agreed. Don't underestimate how tired of this sort of crap I am. Im beyond sick of it, but it wasn't always like this. Once the everyday things worked. You turned on your TV , you developed your photographs ect .When your tired at the end of a day you don't need to battle this shit. When Oh when will manufactures realise we are not all teenagers with too much spare time who enjoy messing around with technology. We just want to watch our fucking TV , or take a picture for posterity without a battle ! I doubt that penny will ever drop...

But are they really hero's ???

This weekend Ive had a great day out and a much needed rest at the Wray Scarecrow Festival . My daughter, Evie loved it and it was good to spend some time with her as things are always so busy nowadays. Yeah that's all rosey , but the theme for the festival of village scarecrows this afternoon  was Hero's and Villains. Of course the inevitable Batman/ Joker scarecrow types were displayed in various gardens , but then I came across two scarecrows dressed up as soldiers complete with the sign " Our troops are the real hero's " and yes , this got me thinking...
   How can a career soldier who kills at his peers command , who in turn gets his orders from politicians for political reasons be a " hero ? " A hero surely acts on his own free will against overwhelming odds, often risking his life for a view or situation he finds worthy. A main stream military soldier does not do this. He follows orders to kill, and puts little thought or philosophy into killing . In some ways he is the lowest of the low excuses for a killer. It is just his " job "He is an empty headed drone or robot of a nightmarish type, that will think not of a bigger picture or question his own actions. No, a hero he cannot or ever be , though he must be brave, and valiant  , and will probably be trust worthy too and even selfless as well , but a hero ? NEVER !!!

Irreality ?

Oscar Prestoris , running around on false legs ( we debate ) shooting his glamorous model girlfriend ( with exploding bullets ) , next he is throwing up in a bucket in court . Doesn't feel real or sound real does it ? Too movie like by my judgement .  

A Ferry sinks drowning 200 teenagers . Horrific , but still seems like overkill in the tragedy stakes . Sounds movie like .

120 teenage girls kidnapped by Islamic extremists in Nigeria . Again way beyond the pale , this story is just plain over the top in its scale of disaster .

Last year the Boston Marathon was bombed . The culprit was hunted down live on T.V and that was movie like in an all to frightening way as well.

Mmmm. Another example I missed, the flight of the Malaysian plane  that just disappeared somewhere complete with all its passengers  on board, its tracking equipment was turned off deliberately before hand. Straight out of a movie as well ?

Im not suggesting any of the above are not true , only that times are changing and something is a miss here . There have always been disaster throughout history, but today there seems to be a new almost black humour in the details and ridiculous level of tragedy displayed here . Maybe its all a cycle though, and we are currently in the extra crazy stage of human existence...or possibly we are entering a stage when all that's left to happen in fate is the most extreme of possibilities ?

After a short break I have re-worked my Moon Like Dreams blog with a new look and  am solely concentrating on putting my poetry on there for any one to mull over, or even laugh at ? Who knows , at my stage of life I don't care ! I shall add some further updates soon as I feel ready to share some more of my efforts . Again its all quite personal but life is too short . The question of course is why am I doing this ? Certainly not for vanity and to be honest I cant really give you an answer , though as usual with life, someone else can probably tell me why I am doing so ! Sometimes another can know you better than you know yourself...

EAST v WEST ?

My outlook on life up until now has been very Western orientated , as I have needed to control this life to aim for a goal. I achieved my goal. Today, I need a simple, but totally different mind set to simply exist day to day comfortably. In that respect my outlook may be now better suited to a more Eastern style of thinking. Its taken a while for that penny to drop...lol , well maybe ?

More human than human ?

Its fuck 'o clock in the morning and Im shattered with the sound track of a shrieking child who wont stop in bed again , again and again . All I want is peace . This happens at 6.30 every morning morning and is now graduating to through the night . Its been a long year and a long tiring Spring . Im exhausted inside and out. Like most people I know ive had enough. Sounds harsh but you know your the same really .only you don't shout so much about it, maybe the world would be a better place if you did ?
  Every year we all drag our selves along until we reach a holiday and a rest. We get a gulp of oxygen and then its back under water again and somehow we carry on. But many of us don't do we ? Many end up on pills and stagger on regardless. The dance of the macabre , and this is the norm... How have we ended up like this ? OK Im not in a sound mood at the moment, but that doesn't stop that last statement being true .
  I feel like I did 2 years ago . Its odd. That's because there is no escaping yourself. This is the eternal truth. It can be ugly I guess...

Whats getting me through the day/ night at the moment ? 4 Good Year high performance tyres  that are making my Ford Focus's  handling as sharp as f***(  and on the intellectuall side of the equation; a book about Madame Blavatsky ) ! Oh yes , the true me is here alright. Check out my dual use of a bracket to form part of an pseudonym of an expletive .Wahey !

For some Motherhood is no more than a temporary inconvenience . A price they pay to keep a man , though biology does its best to provide them with instincts so strong that this fact is totally obscured . The most unsuitable of women even will breed then , if only to seal her long term importance or social standing among her peers .These women will go far, as they play the game of life to appease others in battles they can not win, either against the man they love or against nature .They are only temporally won over by Motherhood , for a season , so nature achieves its goal despite every bone in these women's body resisting. The unstoppable paradox .Society turns its head  to look the other way . You are vindicated by the false witness you bore, such was your sin , such was your redemption. As the flames die down some embark on the whole damned cycle again. Now you have lost all my sympathies...

People in general don't realise when a new model of car has a worse build quality than their previous one , they don't recognise an improvement in build quality when it finally appears either  . No wonder car manufactures don't try harder . And You Think You Have It Bad

Today my thoughts are with Sir Bob Geldof . I doubt there can be a more tortured man on the whole planet . His late wife Paula Yates had an affair with the singer Martin Hutchins of Inxs . He committed suicide a number of years ago , followed eventually by Paula Yates ,who apparently never got over the death of this man . Recently you will have seen in the news that Peachs Geldof , Paula's daughter has also committed suicide like her mother . Can you imagine how this terrible chain of events must weigh on Bob Geldof's mind ? One cannot imagine . To have your wife cheat on you , and then commit suicide because of it , followed by the loss of your 25 year old daughter , which no doubt can also be attributed to this sequence of events must be devastating . What an awful chain of events has started . I wonder if its finished ? I unfortunately doubt it ... 

Somebody Answer The Phone !!!

Call me old fashioned but I remember a time when if the telephone rang you ran to answer it ! This was quite an event . You knew where your phone was because it was plugged into a socket on the wall . No one could wander off with it , or leave it upstairs ringing its self silly while you were frantically searching for it . No , those were the days .
   Further more on answering there was actually someone on the line , not an eerie silence followed by an engaged tone . There were no foreign accents gabbling at you to try their " cheaper companies " There were no scammers playing on strange " coincidences " trying to catch you off guard . Most of the time it was family or people you knew who rang up, and as I said you rushed eagerly  to answer . Today ? Well I bet its not uncommon for anyone reading this blog to admit they sometimes just let the phone ring . This was once the height of rudeness .  I only realised how I had become such a person recently, and it shocked me how acceptable this has become today . We are more tired , jaded and suspicious nowadays  I guess, which leaves us with little enthusiasm to run to that phone. Its quite sad really . Quite sad .

I Never Learn

No, I never learn . Buying a part worn tyre on ebay for £35 as opposed to £125 new, seemed at the time like a good idea . On delivery I removed the address label only to find this hole in the tread . Its not punctured , but its as near to it as makes a difference . If it had been fixed with a plug then I wouldn't be complaining for that price . The fact someone covered this up just annoys me . Back it goes then ( assuming postage rates are acceptable... ) 
  Next however things went from bad to worse as while changing the wheel on my Focus  I see the starting of some serious rusting  on the sills . This is a death knell for old Fords...  :  (

Girls Aloud - Can't Speak French

   


Well I need cheering up ! Seriously though , there has not been a girl band since Girls Aloud that has come anywhere close since . Todays girl bands are all shouty , badly dressed , with scraggy bleached hair and bland lyrics , and their songs wont be on You-tube in 10 years time , thats for certain . At  the time everyone slated Girls Aloud , but looking back they were impeccable in every sense .

Ch ..ch ...ch ...changes !

Im shattered . Ive had a long busy day moving several trailer loads of sheep from a piece of ground that due to the continuing wet weather is now resembling a WW1 battlefield . This hill side is now a quagmire that even the quad bike cannot cross when loaded with feed for the sheep . I have never seen anything like this level of mess and rutted mud in my life . Although the daily heavy rain has eased we are still getting heavy drizzle most days , and the ground is still not drying out much even if the grass is starting to grow now . To be honest the weather has been so wet again this winter its been nearly impossible to keep sheep out side . That's crazy. If this is a future trend then new ways of doing things are going to be needed .
  There is a steady decline in the fertility of the higher ground we farm . This gets worse on our area of land at the top of the dale . Two wet winters have seen rushes spread nearly everywhere blocking out the grass . I have spent much time cutting them every year but its a losing battle due to this weather . Im quite good at summing up the direction in which situations are heading , and I don't like what I see . I think the climate is changing and upland areas will see this change first . Maybe its time to go into one of those Environmental Schemes and get paid to just let all grow wild , but that goes against every part of me , but if the land is going that way anyway why fight it when someone could be paying me to just leave it to nature ? Christ , has it come to this ?

Sometimes in farming you just have to say "  fuck it " there is nothing I can do about it . I guess that's healthy ? !!!

Ive had a big chip butty . Ive slept a little before and now its late Im tired but cant sleep . Yes , Im in a classic blogging mood . Anything could come out tonight...

It seems a close family member who dismissed my blogs as too " mad " to read has had quite an overly active viewing session from her Brazilian paradise !!!

Strangely there is a lake of  sulphur water under this property ( now its water supply )  . Well, what are you waiting for !!!

Are We Really What We Eat ?

Are you getting your 5 a day ? Well if you are one of the minority that already eat 5 or more portions of fruit or vegetables a day already ( as recommended by our health experts ) then bad luck to you because today your daily target has just been raised to 7 a day , by lunch time it was 10 a day according to some health academics .

 As Ive said before this is the typical behaviour of a pressure or lifestyle focus group . Basically they set a target for you that's nearly unachievable and then after a while they will raise it higher again , thus justifying their own existence by re-creating the problem . After all what's the point to a pressure group if people actually act on what they say ? Well the problem ceases and they are become redundant , but don't worry because there is even more that always needs doing funnily enough . Well that is a surprise , back to square one we go then...

   Of course the real truth about food is that the human body can survive on just about any food ; even a diet of bad processed convenience  food or take aways . No the effects wont be pretty and the real damage will take decades , but the human body can and does exist quite nicely on this high fat or sugar laced rubbish .
  Look at the varied diets of the worlds population ; Mediterranean- fish , fruit ect , Asian - rice , beans , Eskimos - fat , blubber , meat , meat , meat , fish ect  . There are some very extreme diets around the globe and the human body can do them all  quite nicely .

   Vegetarian or Vegan ? No problem really . There may be side affects as with all non varied diets around the world , but basically the human body adapts . So why our obsession with more fruit and veg ? One academic from The Royal College of London said no less " However much fruit and veg you are eating now , eat more !!! "  She is forgetting we can survive on nearly anything ... and most people  do !  Its time to just leave people alone and treat them like adults , after all we are not morons ! We eat what we can afford , when we can or what we have time to cook . That's the real world for you...

Looking back at the date, I think the 7-10 a day was an April Fool joke in the media (maybe) but what I wrote is still true...
