Is a drama about a cross dressing teenage boy really a suitable T.V program for 8pm on Boxing Day ?! Well it seems the B.B.C thinks so. Well we are in " modern times ". Truth be told it was not too lurid, but it was not something I think many parents would like to be explaining to their children at any time. Oh, and we licence payers help funded it !
Personally Im not prejudiced about any sexuality or deviation. Today nobody gives a damn. People have bigger concerns today. But I do think the timing of this dramas airing was affected by that all too apparent left wing bias mafia that lives somewhere in the B.B.C. No doubt these leftys are also responsible for the portrayal of disabled and minority's as the majority norm on the children's C.B.B.C channel. I must say that recently they have redressed this silly situation of positive discrimination some what. I mean it was just becoming a joke.
So what riled me so much then ? Well for a drama about such a politically correct theme there was every stereotype possible portrayed, and often with a straight face, here goes...
The " butch " wagon driving Father who at first disowns his Son (he's ignorant you see )
The overly and suspiciously caring Asian woman next door ( she just wants to help )
The straight laced uptight white middle age, middle class Headmaster ( made to look pompous )
The overly nice and caring black girl who lends him a dress ( she has such style )
There were probably other stereotypes too, but I only caught short snatches of this drivel. Hey, guess what ? Sport saved the day ! Turns out the boy is rather good at football, even when in a dress, so that's O.K, he must be accepted. Actually I can see some bigoted people actually being swayed by this, and that is even more worrying than their discrimination ! lol
If an adult was cross dressing I would say live and let live. If a boy was cross dressing Id suggest he see a doctor (unless he is good at football ) Don't worry I speak in jest...
